Kier has been lined up for the larger £77m overhaul of RAAC-hit Stepney All Saints Church of England Secondary School in east London, while Tilbury Douglas has landed the £31m Cavendish School scheme in Eastbourne.

The Stepney All Saints project will involve the design and build and refurbishment of the existing 1,500-place secondary school and sixth form in Tower Hamlets.

RAAC has been identified across several parts of the estate, including the roof of the main building, forcing the closure of part of the fourth floor.

Kier has initially been appointed under a preconstruction services agreement covering the early supplier involvement stage of the two-stage procurement.

The final works price will be agreed as detailed design progresses, with the overall programme currently due to run until July 2031.

Tilbury Douglas has meanwhile been selected for the £31m Cavendish School project in Eastbourne.

The all-through academy on Eldon Road caters for pupils aged two to 16 and has around 1,350 pupils.

Its main school building dates from 1939, with a series of later extensions added across the campus.

Tilbury Douglas will now develop the design and refurbishment proposals during the preconstruction phase before agreement of the main design and build contract.

The Cavendish programme is scheduled to run until November 2029.
